April Madness
By request
Come stay in Golden, BC and spend 4 days ski touring or splitboarding. This midweek program is offered to get the most out of the March powder season. With deep winter snowpack covering all the rocks, trees, and glaciers, this is one of the best times to ski from the peaks all the way to the valley bottom. Being a midweek trip has the advantage of fewer crowds going after the same lines. We will spend two days guided in the backcountry surrounding Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. This venue allows us to take advantage of the gondola up to the high alpine, where we start touring or skiing from. This makes an ideal first day as groups can cover all the mandatory safety training and get some good long powder skiing laps in. KHMR’s backcountry offers a great selection of chutes, couloirs and steep terrain to ski.
Following that, we will spend two days skiing in Glacier National Park, AKA Roger’s Pass, located in the height of the Selkirk mountains. This land of big storms and massive peaks makes for some high quality, and leg burning runs. We’ll explore the vast glaciers or find steep pillows in the trees during storms. Rogers Pass is a must-do for every adventurous skier or snowboarder.

Heli Assisted ski touring
Bring your cohort groups of 4 plus an ACMG guide
February - Mid April
Want all the best parts of ski touring without the big ascent and long slough out?
All trips will be lead by an ACMG guide who will be able to access more remote areas without a long approach. Start your morning off with a Heli drop in the alpine and start your touring day with a powder filled descent. After that, we will do 2 or 3 runs man powered and get picked up at the end of the day to go home. The helicopter allows us to explore more terrain and stay up in the alpine to enjoy the views all day.
Outline of the day:
Meet at Helipad, debrief for the upcoming day, go over safety gear and rescue training.
Get dropped off in the remote mountains and go skiing!
Usually, 2-3 laps of skiing depending on the length of runs and ability.
Get picked up for the way home!
Heli flights will approximately be 15- 30 mins each way depending on weather and flying conditions.
Requirements:
Must be an intermediate-advanced skier on the resort
Must have ski touring equipment
Bring your own lunch
Minimal Backcountry experience “Shouldn’t be your 1st day but it’s cool if it is your 5th day”
Please provide us with a two-day booking window for this trip. As this will highly increase our chances of good flying weather and conditions. Our Heli provider has the final say on whether it is safe flying conditions for both our drop-off and more importantly our pick-up.
